Reflection

God gave us the gift of eternal life when we're born. But because of our sin, it was taken away from us. So God gave Jesus to us to bring back and achieve the eternal life. It is important that we put God in everything we do and believe that there's an eternal life after death. We don't need to search for light, that eternal life, because it is within us. According to some Buddhist, three things matter in this life. First, how we fully lived our lives. Second, how deeply we loved our brothers and sisters. Last, how well we let go the things that are not meant for us.

Luke 20:27-38
Some Sadducees—those who argue that there is no resurrection—approached him and they put this question to him, ‘Master, Moses prescribed for us, if a man’s married brother dies childless, the man must marry the widow to raise up children for his brother. Well then, there were seven brothers; the first, having married a wife, died childless. The second and then the third married the widow. And the same with all seven, they died leaving no children. Finally the woman herself died. Now, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be, since she had been married to all seven?’ Jesus replied, ‘The children of this world take wives and husbands, but those who are judged worthy of a place in the other world and in the resurrection from the dead do not marry because they can no longer die, for they are the same as the angels, and being children of the resurrection they are children of God. And Moses himself implies that the dead rise again, in the passage about the bush where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. too lazy

I did my normal routine today, went to school to attend Broadcast Engineering subject which is my only subject for the day. We just copied the syllabus for the subject and Engr. Publico gave some insights about the subject. She said there will be lots of seminars and broadcast station visitations that the class should attend. However, the classroom we stayed for that subject is soooo small. That classroom is supposedly a computer laboratory or an AVR room (are they really serious about this?! whatever) but due to lack of classroom in CEA, we have no choice but to occupy the room. Staying in that room is not comfortable for all of us. So the class agreed that we should move in a different room and schedule the class to Tuesday. For now, it’s not sure yet because there’s no available room for Tuesday. We’ll wait for some time until Engr. Publico asked some heads from the IE and COE department. The class was dismissed early so we had the chance to go to recto to buy a second hand book for ECE Law subject. No luck, we didn’t find any. I don’t want to buy the book from nbs because it’s soo expensive. It costs 899 pesos (almost 1000 pesos, right?). Eh I’m saving money so maybe I should have a photocopy of the book na lang.

While surfing the net, I found this picture, and with just a click of the mouse I made this as my desktop background. I just love the color, so relaxing and cool to the eyes, and I found the kid so cute! And by the way, we have the same cheeks! hahaha =p

Can you live without friends?

I came across this topic in a forum and I found myself asking that question in my mind.

Definitely the answer is NO! I can't imagine how anyone can survive by themselves in isolation. I believe human beings simply need a companion--to interact with everyone around us. If there's nothing to interact with, what will be the meaning of life?

I guess you CAN live WITHOUT friends. Life goes on right, but sure it'll be tough and hard to go on with so lonely. I don't know whom you can share to enjoy your great time with, but sure it'll be pretty depressing to have no friends.

For me, it's really hard to imagine a life without friends. Yes, there are times I want to be left alone, I want to be quiet, but certainly it doesn't mean I don't need friends. Friends are just important as my family; the one who cares and loves me; the people I can go and trust. They bring me companionship; they bring me joy, and they can be an ear to listen to my rants and raves. The people I can giggle and tell secrets to, who can be happy when I'm happy, and who I can talk things out with them about my life when it's like sh*t!

I think how many friends you have really isn't important but rather, those who are, are real friends that care. I don't need a bunch of friends, a handful of good is enough. For me, Quality friends not Quantity; True friends rather than Fun friends. As long as you have friends, this life makes sense.

I know for one I can't live without my friends. They are expensive and a rare commodity here on earth. Hanging out with them are one of the best things in life. How about you? Can you live without them? a year? 5 years? 10 years? rest of your life? do u need them?

Today

Today I’m here at home coz I don’t have classes every Thursday. This week is just an orientation of classes so it only means that I don’t have a work load for the whole week which is pretty good coz I will have an abundant time to do blogging! This is a stress-free week! Yehey! And by next week, it would be a fun and I guess a strenuous week for me coz we’ll be having our ECE Week. I joined different contest like patintero, volleyball, pictionary, charade and pinoy henyo. It is sad to think that this will be our last year to celebrate the ECE week so we better enjoy it this time. It is also a custom that we don’t have classes during this time except for those subjects that need to be attended by the request of some professors. Of course Engr. Gallego who teaches our ECE Laws subject is one of those professors who always require students to attend class during ECE week. As much as we wanted to enjoy the whole week, we don’t have any choice but to follow him. Arrrg..I hate him! Hehe. So much for that, I don’t want this entry to contain things about that prof. =p

I just want to share that two years ago, I went to see St. Therese's
remains when it w as put on display in the Carmelite Church. I went
there because I was curious what the euphoria about the world's
youngest saint whose job is to grant people's wishes was?

So I went with friend Lyn and I must admit the life of the little
child, Therese, intrigued me. It turned out she was a child who
wanted to serve her God more than anything else in the world. Thus,
in every chore that she did, even watering the plants, she performed
it like it was for her master.

Since all her siblings were Carmelite nuns, she became a nun
herself, the youngest (12?) to be allowed inside the convent. So
we're talking of a pure "uncorrupted soul". And then she died.

But she left a journal (suggested reading!) which contained all her
thoughts about God, love and life. Since then she became the saint
who grants all wishes.

Believe it or not, my wish was granted! Not because I said a novena
but knowing about her life and reading her works inspired me and
made me more patient and persevering.

According to religious beliefs, St. Therese was known as: "The
Little Flower". Whenever you ask for intercession to her for a
miracle, she will send you a rose in one form or another when the
miracle has been granted. You may smell rose scent or receive a rose
by visual means, etc.
REMEMBER to make a wish before you read the poem. That's all you
have to do. There is nothing attached. This is a powerful novena. Do
not break this, please. Prayer is one of the best free gifts we
receive. There is no cost but a lot of reward. Let's continue
praying for one another.

Yesterday

this post is supposedly posted yesterday.. but my connection wasn't good last night..

I woke up early today at 5 am, ate my breakfast, took a bath, went to school and arrived there at around 7 am. I’m the first to arrive in our class; as usual my classmates were late. We had an orientation in Field trips and Seminars under Engr. Ben Andres. I feel very fortunate that Engr. Andres handles our class because I simply like him. Not in a romantic way, but I’m comfortable with him. He’s very soft spoken as always and he has a cool temper that I really admire. He’s not a type of a prof na maraming arte, it’s easy to comply with his requirements as long as you’re a good student like.. ahem.. me. =p Anyway, our orientation lasted not less than an hour. He only discussed the course outline, his requirements and of course some insights about our baguio tour (yeah!). After that, we were supposed to meet our next professor for the microprocessor subject but the department said that until now there’s no professor available to handle our class. So we decided to go home.. well, I actually didn’t go home right away. We first processed our scholarship application and then went to Banco De Oro afterwards to deposit the payment for the cellphone my sister bought from her classmate. Since SM centerpoint is just beside BDO, Jessie and I decided to stroll inside.

How I missed centerpoint. Hahaha! It’s ironic that centerpoint is just so near in the university where I study but when we have opportunity for lakwacha, we always go to gateway and have foodtrips there because the foods are just superb, especially the mojo’s potatoes (yummy!). Anyway, centerpoint is just the same, nothing much changed except for those newly opened stores. Of course I didn’t miss the chance to visit my favorite stores, such as Kamiseta, Giordano, and other clothing and shoes stores. I don’t have enough money with me so I just got contented by window shopping. I promised to myself that I should have money before this month ends because the clothes and shoes that I found were so tempting! Hehe. After 1 and a half hour of strolling, we decided to go back to school because my father always fetches me after my class. We first had a stop-over at 711 before reaching the school. We bought hotdog sandwhich which only cost php24. It’s cheaper compared to our foodtrips last sem.. well, I’m saving money, that’s the reason.. After finishing the food at 711, we ate kikiam and small hotdog at Pureza (Thanks for the 5-peso treat Jesi, haha). After arriving at school, I headed to the parking lot to meet my father. As always, he didn’t know about my malling-adventures (I’m bad, right.. =p). Oo nga pala, I saw Adrian, Jeli, Aye, and other 5^th yr dancers at the parking lot.. I guess they are practicing for their dance competition next week. It’s been 4:30 pm that time and we had a long trip back home. It always take us 1 ½ -2 hrs of travel. We arrived 7 pm because we had to shopped first for groceries. I just changed my clothes, ate dinner and opened my pc to check my mail and do my blog entry.

So there, nothing much really happened today but it’s weird that I felt tried.

Better

I felt better now that I made my reflection.. What the gospel wants to relate to us is just so timing with what happened to me yesterday. I can breathe now.. Thanks to you my Lord. =)

Reflection

The gospel talks about grace joined with repentance. Repentance is not only solely a transaction of the heart but also it bears fruit.

Zacchaeus reflected in the gospel shows by his intended actions that he knows the law of restitution, even though he has not treated the poor as he would be treated.

We are seldom given the opportunity to restore relationships that we have broken, to restore them to their un-broken newness. Compensation is hard, in emotional terms. Taking a tongue-lashing after having disappointed someone badly is not compensation. In fact, the other is doing more to damage than to repair the relationship.

The patience that Jesus encourages us to have is key to the mending of relationships. The offended party needs to take a deep breath and try to understand why the offender did what has happened, just as the offender needs to step back for a bit to understand why the offense seemed proper at the time, only to achieve a non-desirable outcome.

“Payback is hell” is so apt! “Payback” is not the work of a Jesus-filled heart. Pain cannot be undone by giving pain in return. Nor can pain be un-given.

But pain can be for-given, if not forgotten. The memory of an acute pain is a terrible thing to hold onto. It is as if we are constantly spreading the edges of a healing cut, almost wishing that the scar would grow bigger and uglier.

That is why Jesus told us to love those that hate us. With that armor, we can hardly ever be damaged, at all, in any way that matters.

And we have the opportunity, in that love, to repair the heart of the hater. We can be true daughters and sons of Abraham, too.

He entered Jericho and was going through the town and suddenly a man whose name was Zacchaeus made his appearance; he was one of the senior tax collectors and a wealthy man. He kept trying to see which Jesus was, but he was too short and could not see him for the crowd; so he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus who was to pass that way. When Jesus reached the spot he looked up and spoke to him, ‘Zacchaeus, come down. Hurry, because I am to stay at your house today.’ And he hurried down and welcomed him joyfully. They all complained when they saw what was happening. ‘He has gone to stay at a sinner’s house,’ they said. But Zacchaeus stood his ground and said to the Lord, ‘Look, sir, I am going to give half my property to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody I will pay him back four times the amount.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham; for the Son of man has come to seek out and save what was lost.’ — The New Jerusalem Bible

Thought for the day

Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise.

The truth is our friend. It is a rough and humble kind of friend - but a friend nonetheless. Each of us will need to learn to spend time with this friend because it is one that is not easy to escape. It is always turning up when we least expect it. The truth about ourselves is hard to avoid. It seems to knock at our door until we let it in.

Perhaps we have played the game of hide and seek sometime in our lives. Sometimes we tell little lies about ourselves to impress others, or we act in ways that, deep down, we know are not really the way we want to be. We can never be comfortable this way. We know what it is like to hide and try to keep from being found. The truth about us is an expert player. It seeks us out until we put our arms around it and welcome it.

Realization

It suddenly dawned on me that people are usually more into being mean and devilish than being nice and polite. All I can think about is why is everyone so mean all the time? Wouldn’t it be easier to behave ourselves and be friendly, calm and relaxed, or at least polite if we really don’t feel like having small talk?

Let me put it some other way: if we don’t want to be kind just because "it’s a nice thing to be nice", we can at least think selfishly… Just making others feel better might eventually make us feel better about ourselves by having the feeling of being nice to another human being. So, at least for this reason and we should be less intentioned to harass and harm other people and more happy to behave civilized and nice.

Why are people so mean, for God’s sake? I sometimes try so hard to understand why so many human beings do find it easier to be critical and mean and hostile, instead of being nice, but I never seem to get to any valid explanation. Maybe because they express their inside furies and frustrations by trying to make others feel lousy too, or maybe because they just don’t care about the way their reactions affect the others or maybe "just like that".

"Why are people mean? Here's the short answer: They're hurt. Here's the long answer: They're really hurt. At some point, somebody—their parents, their lovers, Lady Luck—did them dirty. They were crushed. And they're still afraid the pain will never stop, or that it will happen again.

The fact is that we've all been hurt, and we're all wounded, but not all of us are mean. The moment we begin tolerating meanness, in ourselves or others, we are using our authorial power in the service of wrongdoing. We have both the capacity and the obligation to do better.

Pissed Off

Arrgg.. can anyone tell me why are some people sooooo mean?! I just asked something from 'someone' (I chose not to mention a name) through YM because I know that that-someone is online. I've waited for the reply, but that-someone suddenly go offline. I mean, what's the meaning of this. I didn't do anything to deserve such action to that-someone. As far as I remember that-someone made an offense against me and that I should have the right not to treat that-someone nicely. Well, I'm damn good if you may asked. I know how to forgive right away. But why do some people take it against you even you don't do anything wrong. You know, that-someone can just answer what I was asking and that-someone can go right away. I'm not asking to have a long chat! Sigh. What a cruel world! I felt really bad!

Summary:

Kobayakawa Sena is a little guy who always get picked on by the bullies in school. Since elementary school, he always play the role of the 'errand boy' to the extent that he has become swift and fast in his movements. Coincidentally, Hiruma Youichi and Kurita Ryukan are looking for a fast running back for their American Football team (Amefuto) and want to put Sena in the team. To hide their new 'star' player from the eyes of other High Schools, Hiruma encases Sena in a Amefuto helmet with a dark visor and name him Eyeshield #21.

The protagonist of the series is Sena Kobaykawa, a shy kid with a light physique, he is a first year at Deimon Senior High, since kindergarden he has always been the gopher of the bullies at school, to the point that he's gotten really swift and fast. Hiruma, a demon-like quarterback and Kurita, good natured lineman are the only guys on the American Football team (Deimon Devil Bats) and are desperately trying to make people join the team. After Hiruma sees Sena's running he is made join the team and becomes Eyeshield 21, wearing an eyeshield helmet to protect his identity from other teams he becomes known as "the mysterious hero from Notre Dame". In his second game he should meet his rival, Seijuro Shin, who is known as the fastest linebacker in the history of japanese football. Eventually more people will join and strengthen the team. By overcoming fears and challenges Deimon plans to win the fall tournament and beat all the teams in the kanto area.

Yes, a month to go before our much awaited Baguio trip! It's a tradition in our department that 5th year students go to Baguio to held their seminars and field trips. I and my classmates couldn't wait for this! Of course we wanted to experience how's living in Baguio, to feel its cold breeze, to see its beautiful parks, tiangges and other tourist spots even for just a week. I am much excited with this places rather than going to companies which is our main purpose -- to hunt companies that we could apply for after graduating college. It is also my opportunity to live by myself, away from my parents, and to experience the freedom I want. It would be my first time to be away from them for a week.. Well, it's heaven for me.


Some facts about Baguio:

Baguio is the summer capital of the Philippines. At 5,000-feet above sea level, it has a year-round average temperature of 65 degrees C. Among the ideal places to visit in Baguio are the following:

• Burnham Park - Baguio's main attraction, named after its American designer. It provides shaded walks and cool lagoon right in the heart of the city.
• Mines View Park - Its mountain-edge location offers a panoramic view of the mining towns below.
• Mansion House - The summer residence of the President of the Philippines.
• Philippine Military Academy - The training ground for the country's top military officers.
• Camp John Hay - Used to be the foremost recreation center of the United States Armed Forces.

I wish could visit all those places above when we got there.

All Souls Day

"Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because dawn has come."

"The Day for the Dead", they say.. A day for remembering our love ones who have passed away. Instead of going to cemetery, our family has a tradition of lightning candles outside our house at night and pray for the souls of dead. Praying for souls of loved ones helps to remove the stain of sin, and allow the souls to enter the gates of heaven, and the candles serve as their guide back home. Foods are offered at our altar as a belief that the dead partake of the food in spirit.

Even long after our loved ones have departed for their heavenly abode, we continue to feel their presence and their reassuring hands on our shoulders. The Holiday Spot offers a tribute to all those who are no more but still very much there.

***I know my greeting is kinda late..

It's very common for all of us to associate this season with ghosts, goblins, pumpkins, scarecrows, haunted houses, skeletons, witches, warlocks, mad scientists, zombies, hunchbacks, phantoms, freaks, and any other sort of Halloween fun you can think of! Trick-or-treat is one of main traditions for children on or around Halloween in which they go from house to house in costumes, asking for treats such as candy with the question, "Trick or treat?". The "trick" part of "trick or treat" is a threat to play a trick on the homeowner or his property if no treat is given. Even though its a tradition all over the world, i never experience this thing.. sad noh? Since I was young, I'm satisfied just watching scary movies or shows at home to enjoy this season.

Yehey! It's my first time to have a blog.. Yeah right, i should have have it long before since it's the trend nowadays. Its just that I don't have the time before for this kind of stuff. Since I'm enjoying my sem break at home, why don't I give it a try and enjoy blogging! Well, I'm kinda new with this stuff so you can see that my blog is just simple. I hope in the coming days.
